  • Real Ale Trail - the resuts Tuesday 29 September 2020

Just a quick update on the Peterborough CAMRA Real Ale Trail “Back to the Pub 2020”. Our thanks to ALL that helped to make the event such a success , particularly the licensees for donating some fantastic prizes and all of the participants for respecting the social distancing measures in their search for the perfect pint/pub.
The Ale Trail was purposely designed so that it would take two, three of four days to complete and we realise how difficult this was for “out of town” drinkers to complete. • Real Ale Trail - Aug 22nd- Monday 31 August 2020

Here at Beer Festival Towers, we have been busy for the last few weeks and can now give you more details of our proposed Ale Trail, which we hope will encourage you all to join in with us and celebrate what would have been PCBF week by getting out to the pub and drinking real ale or cider. We have fourteen venues, all of which are open to the public to freely visit during the ten days of the Ale Trail (Saturday 22nd August to Monday 31st August), but within the specific opening hours detailed. Do be careful in your planning as some venues have to impose limited days, hours and numbers for obvious reasons. All is covered in detail in the Ale Trail booklet. Click to download the Ale Trail booklet
There will be a few booklets available in each of the venues, but as we have no idea how many may be required, PLEASE download the .pdf file and print your personal copy. Venues are listed from North to South in the booklet, but if you start at the South working North the distance and walking times are also detailed under each venue. Don’t forget to get a unique stamp on your booklet when purchasing a pint of ale/cider at each of the venues. ALL completed entries will be included in a draw to be held on Monday 7th September and it will be an “FA cup” style draw matching a drawn participant to a drawn prize.
At this early stage prizes already offered include:
A brewery experience for two, producing your own recipe real ale (assistance will be given) on the brewery small plant.
A weekend “Behind the Scenes” brewery trip including transport and hotel for two persons A “Money can’t Buy” VIP brewing experience for two.
A pin (36 pints) of real ale, for your next family BBQ, maybe.
Plus many more real ale related prizes that are being offered on a daily basis. Full details of prizes and donors will be listed over the next week or two as details evolve, but I’m sure the above will whet your appetite. We would anticipate more than 20 prizes. We are Xtreme(ly) grateful to all of the venues and some of our local breweries for going that extra Mile(Tree) in donating some real ale related prizes which will give you the incentive to complete the trail. Whilst our event is approved by the Campaign for Real Ale, it should be noted that government and local authority advice will be adhered to in the event that the current pandemic situation requires any change of circumstances. Please do remember to respect the venues temporary opening times and house rules, Drink responsibly and ENJOY our challenge to GET BACK TO THE PUB 2020.

  • Pubs are re-opening ! Tuesday 30 June 2020

It's impossible to keep up with all the pub re-opening news, as it's a in state of flux at the moment.
It appears that a few pubs will reopen on the 4th of July, some a week later and others later still.
The best thing to do is to check with the pubs you're interested in,
on their Facebook page or their own website, where updates will be more frequent.
