It dates back to the sixteenth century, about the same time as the manor house opposite, and it was probably a series of almshouses. Stone built and a warren of connected small rooms with the original timber framed roof intact; originally warmed and lit by inglenooks, the most impressive of which dominates the main bar. Now has three handpumps.
