17th century stone built coaching inn now extended to include hotel and conference facilities. Comfortable public bar. Elegant beamed first floor restaurant on two levels. Officially the birthplace of Stilton cheese which is not made in the area. Daniel Defoe stayed here several times between 1697 and 1701. Attractive courtyard and gardens.
